Abstract

The growing and uncontrolled expansion of large cities has been causing increasingly severe social and environmental harm. Many areas of waters source of large cities are under constant pressure due to the need for new territories for urban expansion. Regrettably, the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba (RMC) has been suffering with the limitations of water availability in quantity and in quality for its supply. From a conceptual research about the subject, has made an analysis of the problem focusing on the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. About these results and analysis have been proposed some preventive and corrective measures, aiming to prevent or correct problems identified.
