Abstract

The article deals with the creation of IDORT, Instituto de Organização Racional do Trabalho, in the early 1930s, and its initiatives towards disseminating a rationalization project, connected to the search of productivity. The paper highlights the role of the organ´s review spreading this project. Emphasizes housing as one of the fields of IDORTs action and the comprehensive approach that it received in the periodic and during the “Jornada da Habitação Econômica”, in 1941. Taking into account the scope of this action in business, technical and administrative groups, the paper shows that the IDORT played an important role, especially in the 1930s and 1940s, in the course of the debates and achievements in economic housing in Brazil.
