This article analyzes the results of the authors' Master's Theses. In one of them, the social subjects were men and, in the other, they were women. The studies were qualitative and used a phenomenological approach. When the research results were compared, common themes concerning the participation of men and women in family planning were found, which were analyzed from the point of view of gender. The results indicate alterations in the roles of men and women in relation to reproduction, sexuality and family life. Given this new situation, the authors suggest a reorganization of health services in order to meet such demands.Downloads
