With the aim of developing psychometrical studies using the Saranson's Social Support Questionnaire, an adapted version of the instrument was applied to 113 mothers. The Kappa Statistical Parameter, the Index of Gross Agreement and Spearman's Correlation were used to the analysis. The analysis of the internal consistency instrument showed a high level of it. In addition, the results indicated an acceptable test-retest reliability as well as statistical relationships between the social support indexes and variables related to work, pregnancy and income. Information on social support sources and the extension of the network suggest a greater participation of the family as the provider of the support.Downloads
