Epidemics due to bioterrorist actions and prevention and control measures of these infections have been worrying not only the policy makers but also health professionals in general. Health professionals have to recognize these diseases earlier. Information and updated studies about the issue are needed. This study is a literature review in the MEDLINE and LILACS databases, books and online information (from 1993 to 2001) about epidemic aspects of the main diseases due to bioterrorist actions and care recommendations for infection control and occupational risk minimization. Healthcare professionals, who assist patients directly, should be prepared to assist patients who become ill in isolated or epidemic situations.Downloads

RLAE’s authorship concept is based on the substantial contribution by each of the individuals listed as authors, mainly in terms of conceiving and planning the research project, collecting or analyzing and interpreting data, writing and critical review. Indication of authors’ names under the article title is limited to six. If more, authors are listed on the online submission form under Acknowledgements. The possibility of including more than six authors will only be examined on multicenter studies, considering the explanations presented by the authors.Including names of authors whose contribution does not fit into the above criteria cannot be justified. Those names can be included in the Acknowledgements section.
