AUDITORY REHABILITATION AFTER COCHLEAR IMPLANTATION

The intention of the auditory rehabilitation is to develop or to return the capacity of auditory perception to the individual with hearing loss, with devices that can amplify the sound. Among those, we mentioned the Hearing Aids and Cochlear Implant. The development of the speech perception and language acquisition, as well as, the success of the auditory rehabilitation depends on some decisive factors as: time of auditory privation, etiology, the patient’s engagement and of the family, among others. The rehabilitation in cochlear implants begins in the activation of the electrodes and in the accomplishment of the mapping. Doesn’t differ of the rehabilitation of the patient with hearing loss adapted to hearing aids. All the patients, independent of the time of installation of the hearing loss, depend so that your results are positive of the effectiveness of the formal auditory training and of the engagement in the guided activities. Cochlear Implant is an alternative for the patients with profound hearing loss. That resource can allow great change of the quality of those individuals’ life increasing the independence, motivation and improving the social relationship.
