The development of visual function occurs during childhood. During this period, several eye conditions may be present, manifesting with impaired visual function and the consequent impact on the child's general development. Strabismus, amblyopia, congenital cataract, glaucoma, retinopathy of prematurity, keratoconus, and ocular allergies are conditions that may manifest in the pediatric group. These diverse conditions are part of the routine care for both general physicians and specialists. All of them should be aware of the signs and symptoms, providing an early diagnostic and a timely approach to avoid definitive visual impairment.
