Abstract

Diarrhea and constipation are symptoms that need a careful history and physical examination, which will help to localize the disease process and establish its nature. The questions to ask at first visit are about the onset and characterization of the symptom, duration and the evidences of systemic disease. Only then ancillary exams should be ordered.
