The rates of cancer morbility and mortality were determined in Ribeirão Preto city during the years 1990 to 1993 in patients of the Hospitals of the county. We realized a survey from hospitals discharges. The coefficent of cancer hospital mortality had a change discreet and always major in the men than women. The mortality decreased of 15,37% in 1990 to 12,79% in 1993. All that localization of the tumor in 1990 and 1991 were of tumors of the respiratory organs and inner thoraxic organs with a CMH above 20% in 1992 and 1993. The localization more letal was in the digestive organs and peritoneum. The mortality in the women in 1990 was 12,96%; 7,6 in 1992 and 9,22 in 1993. It was observed a constant increase in the proportion of internment changing of 5,89 in 1990 to 7,39 in 1993. The average duration of internment was 6,15 to 4,62 days for men and 4,75 to 3,61 for women. The men had a internment increase at the age to 69 years olds with elevation of 74,5% in 1990 to 85,5% in 1993.
