Between management and the elderly health care: focus on falls

Study design: Descriptive study, the type and cross-sectional survey. Objectives. Consider the fall event and its consequences in elderly of Ribeirão Preto / SP and identify the instruments related to the recording of the occurrence and prevention of falls in the elderly. Methodology. Official banks were consulted Department of the Unified Health System Informatics, Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics and the official site of the Municipal Health of Ribeirão Preto, from October / 2012 to September / 2013. The instruments available about health record information about falls and prevention were consulted. Results and Discussion. In primary care, the event falls were present only in sheet D of Care Information System Basic Express as one of its sequels, “femoral neck fracture.” At the point of ambulatory care, prescription medications (90%) stood out. In the hospital care is the cause that leads to the greatest number of days of hospitalization due to external causes. Conclusion. It is necessary to enhance the prevention of falls, with measures at reducing risK factors and especially with actions in the home environment and by improving the management tools care used in primary health careDescargas
