Abstract

The author studied serum levels of carotene and vitamin A in 1.091 Brazilian migrants in transit through the "Central de Triagem e Encaminhamento (CETREN)", in the State of S. Paulo, Brazil, during the period of July 18th through August 17th, 1972. Results showed the existence of a Public Health problem. Suggestions were made to ameliorate the problem of vitamin A deficiency in the studied popualtion.
