Two studies were undertaken with a view to improving the health conditions of a shanty town area in the city of S. Paulo, Brazil. The objective was to modify littering behavior and to implement litter-control procedures with the participation of the inhabitants. Results demonstrated the adequacy of the procedures adopted and suggest a possible contribution on the part of psychology to public health.Downloads
