Abstract

This article is the preliminary evaluation about the Chilean Tourism reserarch. It presents the available resources diagnostic; the research thematic and
character; the researches profiles; etc. This study emphasizes the touristic research development at Austral University of Chile, explaining the relations between the teaching and research, and the links between the private and public areas. It also analyse the challenges faced by touristic research and the perspectives of this new scientific knowlodge field.
