Introduction: The waste pickers are exposed to several risk factors, dangerousness and vulnerability during the work activity and they need intervention programs for occupational health. Objective: This study aimed to describe the intervention of a compensatory kinesiology exercise program for workers of a recycling materials cooperative. Method: This is a qualitative descriptive study of a type experience report of the Cooperate Health Project. The activities took place in a cooperative that works with collection, sorting and commercialization of recyclable materials in the city of São Paulo. Result: All workers of the cooperative could participate in the program of exercises at work that occurred twice a week with a duration of 15 to 20 minutes. Easy-to-perform exercises such as stretching and muscular endurance exercises were applied. Adherence to the program was 64% of the workers. Conclusion: The Cooperate Health Project revealed that it is possible to implement exercise programs at work in cooperatives. The adherence of the cooperative workers to this intervention model is good and its effects are positive for the waste pickers, especially in their pain, in their body scheme and in their autonomy for the management of self-care in health.
