Abstract

There is evidence of the benefits of rehabilitative technologies in different age groups and health conditions, demonstrating significant improvements in the occupational performance of individuals. However, it is still unknown how Brazilian occupational therapists have included them in their care processes. The objective of this study is to identify which technologies are being adopted in occupational therapy intervention processes and to understand the main facilitators and barriers to their effective incorporation. This is an epidemiological, descriptive, cross-sectional study done with occupational therapists with at least one year of experience and active registration with the occupational therapy council. Data collection was performed through a structured online form, covering questions about sociodemographic data, professional training and use of technologies. 25 professionals participated, of which 15 use technologies. The main technologies used were computers, tablets, applications and software (100%) and virtual reality (26.7%). 60% of professionals use technology to facilitate the process of acquiring skills and occupational performance, and technology often facilitates the achievement of patients' goals/objectives (73.3%, p≤0.005). Thus, the use of technologies in the intervention processes of occupational therapists in Brazil has shown itself to be a growing and promising practice, with significant potential for improving patients' occupational performance.
