Abstract

As a fragment of the research carried out in 2012, in the doctoral thesis entitled Mediatic cartography: the body and media in the construction of memory of dance, this article presents historical relations between the emergent dance in São Paulo in the 1970s and cultural and political movements which became a landmark. Based on witnesses and documents about the production of the Pró-Posição Ballet-Teatro group and its founders – Janice Vieira and Denilto Gomes –, this study shows historiographical traces around facts and movements that initiated political divisions and avant-garde artistic productions during the dictatorship in Brazil.
