The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the relations between governors and officials of the Portuguese Crown and local authorities of the kingdom of Ndongo, between 1640 (Restoration of Portugal) to 1671 (end of the political autonomy of its region). The period was marked by a series of conflicts as the Dutch invasion in the territories that later came to be called Angola, and clashes between religious caught the Society of Jesus and Italian Capuchin who were contesting the monopoly of Portuguese missionarism in Western Central Africa.Downloads
