In this interview with Revista Saúde e Sociedade, Professor Enrique Coraza de los Santos, historian and specialist in forced mobility and violence in Latin America, discusses the development of public policies for migrants on this continent. Furthermore, in a very didactic manner, he explains and deconstructs the concepts of forced migration, economic migration, asylum, and exile. He then discusses public policies to address and care for the violence suffered by people on the move, addressing how this violence interrelates with health. This interview contributes to understanding the complexity of the migration issue in Latin America and contributes to reflections on policies to protect and guarantee rights.
