It is a notable fact that Brazil ranks among the most anxious countries in the world, and that the number of work absences justified by burnout has been increasing. In addition, the precarization of work driven by digital platformization has also intensified. At the intersection of these two phenomena, professions that are already feminized reveal the gender bias of this process, such as elementary school teachers, who face a growing number of cases of psychological distress within this occupational group. This article is situated within the field of studies on the relationship between the State and the market in the area of mental health. Its focus is on incorporating the labor variable in order to understand psychological distress, specifically among basic education teachers. Based on a literature review, we contextualize recent labor changes associated with the digital platformization of education in order to examine psychological distress linked to the sphere of work.
