Abstract

This paper presents an experience conducted in a public hospital in the city of Manaus, focused on the theme of humanization in health care. Its objectives included to improve motivation and self-esteem of the institution's employees, to stimulate team-work of different specialties and to bring forth a new attitude toward service's users. The methodology was built along the two stages of intervention: the initial phase, in which meetings were held with professionals training to form a Humanization at Work Group; the workshops conducted with hospital's workers on the theme. A participatory process was sought for, enhancing the engagement of those involved in health care, through interactive activities, the resource of group dynamics, case studies and information on Brazilian's Humanization National Policy (PNH). The results were the creation of the Working Group on Humanization, the achievement of 34 workshops for 339 attendants, emphasizing contents and themes related to PNH, and a diagnosis of the situation.
