Roger Odin’s Spaces of Communication uses a meticulous method of analyzing the most varied phenomena of human communication, emphasizing expanded cinema and audiovisual media. Thus, Odin’s book is reminiscent of works such as Foundations of the Theory of Signs (1976) by Charles W. Morris, originally published in 1938. Morris delves into the pragmatic dimension of language and communication in this work. Odin updates the interest in this pragmatic dimension with his semiopragmatics, recombining the tools to analyze communication processes. With rigor and empathy, Odin offers a theoretical model that considers the particularities of communication in his time.
