The book Audiovisual e mundialização: televisão e cinema addresses the relationship between film and other media in contemporary society with special emphasis on the influence of advertising aesthetics in contemporary Brazilian cinema. The author aims to question the existing criticism against advertising and television aesthetics identified in several recent Brazilian films. This review points to the involvement of the book in the cultural debate, but highlights the weaknesses of film analysis and how this is reflected in Muanis’ very critical discussion.
