From our ongoing research on media narratives, especially those in audiovisual discourses, we propose to discuss theoretical and methodological possibilities to the study of journalistic reports and documentary films. If we consider the principle that the media are constituted as a "language fact", we can displace some of their assumptions, notedly their relationship with reality as something outward from the discourses — and, thus, also outward from the subjects which speak —, to understand them, in a wider way, as narratives. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate this principle and define the media as discursive spaces through which narratives circulate, approaching audiovisual forms in television and in cinema from the tension between "referentiality" and "fictionality" and its possible conceptual developments.Downloads
