This article is focused on Triste trópico (1974), a film by Arthur Omar. A description of its composition urderlines the vertical montage which articulates image and sound following a principle of discontinuity, a disjunctive editing. This descriptive move is followed by an interpretation in which, together with this internal law of composition, intertextual relationships are taken as a fundamental component of the signifying processes engendered by the film.Downloads
