Objective: to identify the effects exerted by educational or combined interventions on functional capacity and alcohol addiction in aged people through an integrative literature review. Methodology: an integrative literature review carried out in the Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), Medline - US National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Web of Science (WoS), Scopus (Elsevier) and SciELO databases. The bibliographic survey took place in April 2025 and identified 2,194 publications, of which 8 articles were selected for analysis with the support of the Rayyan software. Results: the studies included presented methodological diversity (randomized clinical trials, and qualitative, observational, experimental and cohort studies). The interventions analyzed varied among educational, self-care, psychosocial, technological and combined strategies. The main effects observed were as follows: reduction in alcohol consumption, improvement in functional capacity, withdrawal maintenance, emotional well-being, social support and increased adherence to the treatment. Factors such as schooling, risk perception and social context influenced these results. In addition, the structural challenges in access to care stand out in these studies, especially in vulnerable population groups. Conclusion: educational or combined interventions have shown to be powerful in reducing alcohol consumption and improving aged people’s functional status, and should be adapted to the individual and contextual characteristics of the population.
