Drugs and alcohol uses and social contexts of violence

Abstract

In this text, contexts of violence and alcohol and drugs consumption are addressed based on risk society and social reflexivity concepts. Empirical research that relates both situations is exposed and discussed, highlighting the need not to establish determinations between these contexts. It is concluded that there is a need for more thorough discussion about the reduction of social risks in terms of consumption as well as violence.
