Este artigo examina a relação entre a ação afirmativa, tal como aplicada na África do Sul pós-apartheid, e a concomitante perpetuação das identidades raciais formadas ao longo da história colonial e de apartheid do país. O autor problematiza a situação e sugere um curso de ação alternativo, menos perigoso e gerador de divisões.
