Holy City: the representation of jerusalem in Flavius Josephus

Among the many faces of the Jewish identity focused by Josephus in his works, a one is related with Jerusalem. Hierosolomita by birth and member of the sacerdotal group, this Historian justifies the presence that city as a unifying symbol of the Jews around the world. Through a historiographical vision, this Jew makes a representation of the city, express in words and in figurations mental imagetic. This essay shows some episodes of the Jerusalem’s history, and that are considered singular to the understanding this urban center to Josephus.
