Abstract

The study of the trajectory of the Shalom Achshav movement, besides presenting sectors of Israeli society which are interested in dialoguing with Palestinians and Arab countries, reveals peculiar features of the history of the State of Israel, its dynamics throughout the change from modernism to postmodernism, the ideological conflicts and the rescue of the socialist Zionism initial proposal – responsible for leading the country from the moment in which the nationformation process got started to the crisis that took place after the Arab-Israeli war of 1973 and the identity crisis during the 1982 war of Lebanon.

The letters written by Shalom Achshav leaders to distinct prime ministers, at different times, are the subject of this paper, since they represent the movement’s aspirations, the way it acts and its achievements.
