The book of Ecclesiastes is a critique of traditional Jewish wisdom, considering that one of the criticisms raised by this book is about God: would God be an arbitrary being in the middle of the meaninglessness of life? This is a question this paper aims to answer analyzing the role of God in this book. What this paper observed by studying the person and the role of God in Ecclesiastes is its apparent distance from the human being and its importance to find some meaning to life. To do so, this work was concerned to analyze exegetically the texts referred directly or indirectly to the role of God in the study book.
