He purpose of this article is try to understand the relationship between orality and polyphony in the composition of narratives of the Agadah, based on the comparison of two versions of a narrative that appears in the Babylonian Talmud and Jerusalem Talmud, which are used as case study. It will be also discussed the issue of interdependence between the various versions of narratives in the literature of the early rabbis observing how the characters are portrayed, the differences between versions and the situations narrated. A version of the story throws light on the other in a way that points to and reveals the intertexality that exists in this literature which was compiled in the passage from orality to its fixation in writing. It is proposed to use the theory of storytelling made by Walter Benjamin as a framework for understanding the mode of composition and transmission of the Agadah. It is with this apparatus that is sought a lens to understand the worldview of the sages of the Talmudic period.
