On writing Ulysses, James Joyce establishes a direct dialogue to the greek epic of Homer by bringing the Odisseo saga into the irish context of his character Leopold Bloom. This reinterpretation, fulfilled with recriations, on its own hand inspires the Israeli writer A. B. Yehoshua to create his novel The lover. This paper seeks to bring up the elements of the dialogue between the works of Joyce, written in Ireland on 1922, and of Yehoshua, written in Israel on 1977.
