He holds a Bachelor degree in Economic Science, a Master's degree in Latin-American Studies, and a Ph.D. in Economic Development. He conducts research on marxist Dependency Theory, Theory of Value, international trade theories, global value chain, and the political economy of science and technology.

He is an Architect, holds a Master's, Doctor's, and Livre-docente degrees in Architecture and Urbanism, with a Post-doctorate in Architecture and Digital Media. He is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism of the same institution. He directs Nomads.usp and is the Editor-in-Chief of V!RUS journal.
