Abstract

We present the interview Black People and a Five-hundred-year Silenced Dialogue, with the intellectual and activist of the Black movement, Casimiro Paschoal Lumbundanga da Silva, who discusses the historical impossibility of building dialogues between the Afro-descendant population, the State, and society, particularly in Brazil.

Author Biographies

  • Casimiro Paschoal Lumbandanga da Silva, University of São Paulo

    is a photographer, poet, musician, activist, and staff member at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, working as a technician at the Pedagogical Support Office of the School of Engineering of São Carlos at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He develops artistic work focused on the appreciation of Afro-Brazilian culture and African ancestry, standing out for the photographic series Faces, produced after a trip to Angola in 2013. He is recognized for his anti-racist activism and for his involvement in cultural and social initiatives in São Carlos, such as the Afro SoulJazz Choir project. casimiro@sc.usp.br

    is an Architect, holds a Master's degree, Ph.D. and Livre-Docente degree in Architecture and Urbanism, with a Post-doctorate in Architecture and Digital Media. He is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism of the same institution.
