Benthic communities of the Argentine continental shelf

The macrobenthic assemblages of Buenos Aires Province continental shelf were studied from samples collected by the R/V "Capitán Oca Balda" along a transect from 38 m to 218 m depth. Three faunistic areas were determined, corresponding to the coastal, central and external shelf, inhabited by species originate d from the Argentine and/or Magellanic Zoogeographical Provinces. These results confirm the presence of different ecological areas in the Argentine Continental Shelf.Downloads
