The article offers an approach to aspects of the translation into Portuguese of Adrienne Rich's Twenty-One Love Poems (1929-2012), incorporated in The Dream of a Common Language (1974-1977). Concentrating on the rhythmic ambivalence, it verifies the use and the rejection of the language and the tradition in this composition, which can be considered the first sequence of lesbian poems written by a great North American poet.
