Quentin Blake has illustrated several Roald Dahl’s books allowing an instigating dialogue between text and illustrations. We present a possible analysis of “Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf” and “The Three Little Pigs” aiming at a better understanding of the articulation between Dahl’s texts and Blake’s illustrations. We based our analysis on Sophie Van der Linden’s work focusing mainly on the relations and functions set among illustrations and the written text described by Linden. We looked at tailpieces, headpieces and full-page illustrations considering how the images relate to the texts both in English and Portuguese (translations published in Brazil and Portugal). As a result, we could understand that Blake’s illustrations relate dynamically with Dahl’s text echoing it at times, amplifying the text at other moments contributing to an update of the tales by means of a good-humoured reading experience. To sum up, although the relationship between Quentin Blake’s illustrations and Dahl’s texts present variations posed by the languages, readers can have an enriching and stimulating experience with the tales.
