Niketche: A story of polygamy, written by Paulina Chiziane, puts evidence of social relations marked by the Coloniality of Power (QUIJANO, 2005), in Mozambique. The novel presents a criticism of the ban on polygamous marriage and the hypocrisy of political leaders who officially defended monogamy, but who lived in polygamy. The narrative suggests that the oppression of women is accentuated by the patriarchal interlocking (PAREDES, 2017), established between colonized and colonizers, exemplified by the prohibitions imposed by the State and by Western culture that intensify the oppression to which Mozambican women are subjected. The text proposes the establishment of a historic devolution (SEGATO, 2012) for women in the novel. By building a support network, they are able to implement their own historical project and, thus, have the possibility of achieving better living conditions.
