This text witnesses a first movement in the search to forge a locus of discussion about the continuum of language, notably from Wilhelm von Humboldt's linguistics of character and Émile Benveniste's linguistics of discourse, whose bases are found in Saussurian linguistics. It is through this discussion about the continuum of language, that which belongs to the order of the ineffable, to the rest of language, that one can properly understand what the notion of rhythm is about, as proposed by Henri Meschonnic in the second half of the twentieth century. The discussion proposed here, concerning the continuum and rhythm in language, allows the establishment of a space for listening to the enunciation, listening to the rhythm, as well as the activity of the subjects.
