This article discusses critical and theoretical considerations about the different memory types and how are evoked in the novel The blanket of the soldier (2003), by Lídia Jorge, in this work, the narrator and protagonist, nameless also, seeks to build through the memory and the information gets to your family about your father, your parental relationship. In this sense, we seek to analyze the novel The blanket of the soldier, with a focus on the theme of memory, in addition to elucidate the path taken by the protagonist of the book, which discusses the difficult construction of your identity. The memories suffer interference and if distort with the passage of time and imagination, that change the view of the facts. So too we will reflect about the importance of space and your representation to the preservation and commemoration of the memory for the Walter Dias’ daughter. Reflections arising in this article have theoretical contribution the nominations of Paul Ricouer (2007) Maurice Halbwachs (2006), Gaston Bachelard (1993), Michel Polak (1989) and Joël Candau (2016).
