Abstract

Natalia Borges Polesso is one of the most prominent national writers in recent years. After the great repercussion of his book Amora (2015), first place in the category Tales and Chronicles in the Jabuti Prize (2016) and taking the Choice of the Reader (Jabuti) awards and best short narrative by the Gaúcha Association of Writers of the same year, Amora follows the trajectory begun by Natalia's previous book, Recortes para álbum de fotografias sem gente , published in 2013 and winner of the same year's Azorean Prize. The writer is also part of the Bogotá 39-2017 list, a gathering of the 39 best fiction writers in Latin America under the age of 40, and had her work translated into Spanish and English in several countries.

This award-winning trajectory increases the visibility for its lesbian narratives and characters. In the following interview, the postdoctoral writer and researcher at the Caxias do Sul University, tells us about the convergences between her research and her writing, which can be understood as “lesbian literature”, considering the text published in the Dossiê Sáfico N 20 on Creation and Criticism magazine, “Lesbian Geographies: Literature and Gender”. Here we seek to understand what writer and researcher Natalia Polesso means by “lesbian literature”, how she discusses it, how she understands geography as a tool for literary analysis, and how lesbian literary criticism thinks.
