CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE O ORIENTE EM A CIDADE E AS SERRAS

Abstract

In the late nineteenth century, the Orient constitutes itself as a space of exotic and sophisticated references. We intend to analyze how the novel A cidade e as serras, by Eça de Queirós, recovers this perspective and discusses it, showing how this space can acquire superficial and artificial aspects, when it's seen through the eyes of the Western man of the end of this century.
