Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has deeply aggravated the crisis in the Brazilian labor market. Given this reality, our research aims to identify the characteristics that make workers more vulnerable to losses in occupational status, with a special focus on informal workers. We used a multinomial Logit and the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition. The evidence obtained reinforces the intensification of structural inequality in Brazilian society during periods of crisis, highlighting that informality plays a crucial role in explaining the risk of unemployment. Informal workers also faced greater risks in relation to labor income and wage disparities.
