Life Cycle Theory, water scarcity, educational resultsAbstract
The main objective of this article is to investigate the implications of water scarcity and periods of drought in the early stages of life, especially during the intrauterine phase, on the respective educational outcomes of children from the Brazilian semiarid region as observed in the Prova Brasil exams from 2013 to 2017. The main results indicate the existence of negative effects of water scarcity and high temperatures on students’ educational outcomes. Investments in later stages do not offset the damages related to vulnerabilities faced in the early stages, notably during early childhood.
