Ajustamento interno em uma economia heterogênea e seus efeitos sobre a distribuição de renda: o caso brasileiro

The brazilian stabilization policy followed since 1980 had important impacts on income distribution, harming particularly low income population. The negative effects of stabilization programs on product, income and employment had highly regressive effects on the personal and factoral income distribution. This paper discusses the impacts of orthodox economic policies on income distribution in a country where heterogeneous structures and differentiated labor markets tend to increase income inequality. Special emphasis is given to the theory of "structural heterogeneity" to understand the income distribution in Latin American countries.
