The objective of this text is to present the interest and some
possibilities of dialogue between Spinoza’s ethics and the philosophy of
education. To this end, we propose a presentation of Spinoza’s philosophy
with emphasis on certain aspects that may be useful in establishing this
dialogue, for example the privileged place of the child in some passages
in Ethics. Finally, we suggest an articulation between Spinoza’s concept
of joy and the pedagogical practice, discussing the central problem of
becoming active.
