Protagonism is a word that was originated in the Ancient History. Nowadays, it is used around the world, specially in the fields of education and work. How can we deal with such an issue, taking into consideration the tools that have been forged by the French Semiotics? We shall overlook the relation that lies behind objectives and strategic horizons, taking this notions from Fontanille's work (2008). We will analise oral testimonies of Brazilian young boys from 15 to 28 years old. They belonged to three different social profiles and varied in index like income and study. For methodological reasons, they were classified as: (A) urban Youth from São Paulo, (B) teenagers who had committed infractional acts and were under custody (semiliberty regime) in São Paulo. The third profile (C) is composed of indigenous people from xavante ethny, in the State of Mato Grosso. Among the results that were found, we identified in the first group the desire to get good jobs and to live together with their families. The infractor teens wanted to obtain ordinary jobs and to find ways to reconstruct their family bonds. The indigenous mainly wished to help guarantee the cultural survival of their communities.
