Abstract

In 2003, a Brazilian TV-Station, Rede Globo, broadcasted a show, Mulheres apaixonadas. This soap opera showed a panel of several women exhibiting their dramas and conflicts. A character named Fernanda had a relationship with Téo. When Fernanda’s daughter, Salete, becomes very sick, she calls Téo asking him for some money. This fact will be taken as analysis to show how their relationship in the story of Mulheres apaixonadas is introduced to the audience in its first chapter.
