Abstract

The purpose of this study is to consider the bond mother-infant and the possibilities of intervention during the hospitalization of extremely preterm infants (infants born weighing 1,500 g/30 week-gestational age). At first, these infants appear as rather different from the mother's expectations and, due to hospitalization, need to be parted from her at the moment of birth. In this work, the interventions were carried out with the objective of establishing communication among the various parties involved, mother, infant and multidisciplinary team, by approaching and trying to understand the mother in the diverse moments of hospitalization of extremely preterm infants.
