Abstract

This article seeks to present how ethnic hairdressers and trancists use creativity to elaborate the Afro braid so as to use this knowledge and new narratives as a form of afroentrepreneurship in the creative industry. For this, we opted for interview with the professional known as Debby braids, from Curitiba. In this interview, observation was added in the field of the work that develops by uniting traditional knowledge with current elements-such as new materials and colors, for example- To elaborate the braids. Among several references, the concept of creative industry addressed by the report of economy of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD, 2010), since braids afro are an intangible heritage and "use creativity and intellectual capital as primary inputs". Based on Joice Berth (2018), which conceptualizes empowerment as an instrument of social struggle, turns out that the new narratives employed to meet this concept, and thus constitute a relevant contribution from afroentrepreneurship to the industry Creative.
